Praise the Lord for the tremendous week of meetings with the Aaron Coffey Evangelistic Team! We thank the Lord for decisions that were made and the Irish Concert that concluded the week. There were many visitors that attended, and we look forward to following up with them.
The Prayer Week was a blessing and encouragement, as well. We had the opportunity to focus on praying together for the lost that were invited to our evangelistic meetings, for our church as we seek a pastor, and for one another.
As we reflect on January, 2016, and the resolutions we have made, we need to ask ourselves if we are fulfilling the promises we made to God. Many of us, I am sure, vowed to spend more time reading and meditating on God’s Word. The Bible is our source book, our comfort, our guide, and our strength. The psalmist wrote, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). Spending time in His Word helps us to grow spiritually; it will keep our thoughts and actions focused on Him. Have you made the commitment to read through the entire Bible during 2016?
Perhaps you made the vow to God to spend more time in prayer every day. God wants us to come to Him. “The Lord is nigh unto all them who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and save them” (Psalm 145:18-19). Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.” God rewards those who diligently seek Him. As you spend time in prayer, pray fervently for our church, pray for the important decision of calling a new pastor, and pray for one another. As you pray for a pastor, ask God to give us the man of His choosing—a man who will search the Scriptures and shepherd and love this flock.
A third resolution you may have made is to be more faithful to the Lord this year—in service, in church attendance, and in witnessing. Come to God’s house expecting to see Him bless. Come with an enthusiasm that is contagious. “I am resolved to follow the Savior, faithful and true each day; heed what He sayeth, do what He willeth – He is the living way.”
God wants to bless His Word and His work at Berea Baptist Church. He can and will if we resolve to seek Him and follow Him.
