Pastor's Corner September 2010
|

I praise the Lord for the testimonies of God's working in the lives of our young people as they returned from camp. The Lord blessed us
with safety in travel and receptive hearts to the preaching and teaching of God's Word. I am so thankful for what God is doing through
the ministry of the WILDS. This month, Ethan will be sharing with us the lessons God taught him through his summer serving at the
WILDS. I want to thank all who gave special gifts helping our young people to go to camp. Through these sacrificial gifts we were able to
take a young lady who just moved to the area to camp with us. Pray that the Lord will enable us to reach out and see many unsaved
teens come to camp with us and trust Christ.
I praise the Lord for the wonderful report from Steve and Tammi Wess concerning their VBS. The Lord blessed the canvassing efforts of
our mission's team and the others who helped pass out invitations. Over 50 children attended their Vacation Bible School and 17 trusted
Christ to be their Savior. The Lord has brought several new families to attend, including at least one that our team was personally able to
invite.
On Sunday, October 3rd, we will be Celebrating Berea’s 48th Anniversary as a church. Please make our Anniversary Services a priority
and join with me in prayer that God will grant us a wonderful day of reflection as we consider the great things God has done and may the
Lord strengthen our hearts with anticipation of what He will do as we make Him known. We have established this as the one special
offering we take each year in order to invest in our ministry. Over the past six years we have seen the Lord use this offering to provide
for much needed improvements to our facilities. This year the Lord has provided the funds for our new church sign ($25,000) that is
already generating interest in our community. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 through this special offering for the following: 1st –
we have about $2,500 in expenses associated with having the sign installed (praise the Lord our men did all the work). 2nd – we would
like to install a sprinkler system in our courtyards (between church and family center and between church and fellowship hall) and put
new sod down. Reclaimed water has been brought to our property so the costs of running water will be greatly reduced. 3rd – we would
like to fund our Community Fair (plans include providing a barbeque cook-out along with all our games). 4th – we would like to develop
an outreach door flyer that will be used in blitzing our community over the next 2 years. Before our 50th anniversary we would like to
pass out this flyer on every door within 5 miles of our church.
We will begin our day with a Continental Breakfast and fellowship in the Family Center starting at 9:15 a.m. We will move to the
Auditorium for a time of Praise and Thanksgiving to the Lord for His goodness to us (9:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.). Our morning worship
service will follow and then we will start our evening with a special anniversary dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. Pastor Joel Bauman and
family will be with us for the entire weekend. Pastor Joel will be preaching both our morning and evening services. We are thankful that
they will be able to join us this year.
I praise the Lord for those who continue to give each week/month to our Building Fund and Missions Fund. These gifts are in addition to
the general fund and enable us to address needs in our facility and special needs for our missionary families. New air conditioners have
been purchased and funds sent to help in Operation Haiti Rescue. As the Lord provides those extras in your income, please consider
laying up some additional treasure in heaven by investing in these funds. I praise the Lord for the facility He has given us and excellent
manner in which our folks take care of it. Our building fund and Anniversary offering provide the funds to address facility needs beyond
the ability of our budget. The extra Missions gifts enable us to contribute to special needs in the lives of our missionaries and help with
mission trips. Thank you for your faithful giving to the Lord's work and for all who the Lord directs to invest in the special needs of our
ministry and the ministries we support around the world. It is my joy to serve the Lord with you and be part of your lives.
