Pastor's Corner
February 2012
I praise the Lord for a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship with God’s people during our week or prayer. It was a joy to join together in
prayer throughout the week and hear God’s people pouring out their hearts to the Lord.  It is wonderful to witness our Lord growing His
church in both the depth of our prayer life and our commitment to interceding for one another.  We are learning to pray like we mean it.
The Lord continues to answer prayer and I hope that it will spark a genuine hunger in our hearts for true revival.  During our prayer
week, the Lord burdened my heart to pray specifically that He would bless His church with growth in our 50th year of ministry.  We have
produced a laminated prayer card titled “
Praying for 50 in 50.”  I am praying for 50 people in our congregation will join me in daily
remembering these requests. You can pick up your copy on the information desk and co-laborer with me in prayer asking the Lord to be
glorified in Berea Baptist Church and that He might do more than we have asked.

We will be continuing our series on the church during the month of February (The Church is to be …).  On Sunday, February 12th
Evangelist Aaron Coffey will be preaching during the morning service.  Aaron was part of the Galkin team that was with us two years ago.
Invite unsaved guests to come and pray earnestly that Berea will be an evangelistic church.  On Sunday, February 19th Missionary Rob
Clarke will be preaching in the morning and Missionary Alex Wheeler (Bibles International) will be preaching in the evening.  It is a joy to
be part of a church that is committed to missions.  Then on Saturday, February 25th at 4 p.m. we will enjoy a concert by the Artisans in
Brass.  Please make plans to attend and bring guests.  It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce guests to our ministry and they will enjoy
a God-honoring concert.

On Friday, February 3rd at 7 p.m. we will be starting a study of Systematic Theology.  We will be reading through Dr. McCune’s,
A
Systematic Theology, Volume One
, which is available for only $9 in the church office.  It is going to be an exciting study as we grow in the
knowledge of God together.  The format will be more of a question and answer time rather than another lecture.  We will focus on the
‘SO WHAT?’ of our study - having learned this truth, what difference should it make in our lives?

Our memory verse for this month is Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the
LORD.”  The Lord’s timing is always perfect and His Word brings light to our daily decisions so that we might please the Lord in all our
doings.  The Psalmist reminds us that hope in the Lord results in courage to do what the Lord has commanded.  Doing what the Lord
has commanded strengthens our hearts and prepares us for what the Lord has next.  When we trust in the Lord, our fears and anxieties
will be put to rest and be replaced by courage and zeal.  May the Lord use our theme verses for this year to instill in us a genuine zeal
for His glory in the church.
